Senior Accounting Specialist

You help keep ABN AMRO’s financial reporting accurate, clear, and compliant. Your job
You take ownership of complex accounting processes and help translate IFRS requirements into clear, workable solutions. You analyse financial data, investigate accounting issues, and advise stakeholders on the right treatment and documentation. Your work supports accurate internal and external reporting and helps the team improve quality, control, and efficiency across the financial chain.
- Manage complex accounting topics and IFRS application
- Analyse, validate, and report financial data
- Review accounting processes and recommend improvements
- Document accounting positions, choices, and outcomes clearly
- Work closely with specialists, stakeholders, and the Team Lead Group Functions
Working environment
You join the Accounting Shared Service Centre, part of Financial Accounting at ABN AMRO. The team consists of 51 colleagues and manages internal and external IFRS reporting for the Mainbank’s client units and group functions. This includes Personal & Business Banking, Wealth Management, and Corporate Banking.
In your day-to-day work, you collaborate with accounting specialists and finance colleagues who combine accuracy with a practical mindset. The team values clear communication, shared responsibility, and continuous improvement. You work in an environment where people help each other, meet deadlines, and keep learning. The department is also implementing a new system landscape, which creates space to improve processes, simplify work, and bring in fresh ideas.
Your profile
You bring a calm, analytical approach and enjoy solving complex issues in a structured way. You work well with others, share knowledge easily, and help colleagues grow through clear guidance and support. You stay effective when priorities shift and keep focus on quality, deadlines, and practical outcomes. You ask sharp questions, explain your reasoning clearly, and build trust across teams. Most of all, you like improving the way work gets done and you take responsibility for moving topics forward.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Controlling, Business Administration, or a similar field
- 8+ years of experience in a comparable accounting environment
- Solid experience in banking or financial services
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and standards
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS
- Good understanding of regulatory compliance in the financial industry
- RA, ACCA, or RC qualification is a plus
